(I will try somehow though ;)) It is not only so well written, but so thoughtfully (and purely) expressed. Your own honesty about yourself is what rings so full of truth about us all. It makes it ok to be our individual selves in our art making, especially when we question ourselves and wonder "Why are we doing this?"-- Your words sum it up perfectly.
The question you put of "Who are you?" when you look at someone's art, is exactly what an artist is trying to discover about themselves. "While searching for your art, you discover yourself." (can't remember where that quote came from, but it's been a post-it note on my computer for the last year or so.)
Thank you again for your honesty and "thought"-"full"-ness. I am inspired.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3965076219235086304.post-74071963686629892922008-07-23T11:55:00.000-07:002008-07-23T11:55:00.000-07:00Thank you, Tara. This piece was the result of a great deal of careful thought and writing, and as such it summarizes much of my current thinking about the state of the art world and the predicament of the artist. I'm hoping that I'll be able to take it on the road as a presentation for those art students and artists who continue to suffer from the delusions created for them by the "marketplace"!Peter Clothierhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11525159413387378704noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3965076219235086304.post-38221819206080448292008-07-23T08:40:00.000-07:002008-07-23T08:40:00.000-07:00Peter, I'm so thankful I read this post....so much...Peter, I'm so thankful I read this post....so much to think about, to feel, to understand. I could write a long long letter about my reactions, but for now let me just say, what an action-packed piece of writing!

What did you NOT touch on, here? Lots of food for thought. Thank you. I can understand why this is such a well-received 'lecture!'Taradharmahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17665801586196931603noreply@blogger.com
