How do you Meditate?

I'd like to open up a thread for readers to discuss the ins and outs of meditation--especially since I'm aware that some readers are new to the practice. What specific techniques have you found useful, or problematic? Does anyone need help/advice? I'd be happy to hear from you...
Here are links to a few posts about meditation from my fellow Buddhist bloggers.

After 20+ years of exposure to various meditation teachers I got instruction from a westerner who was taught by the Dalai Lama and numerous other of the DLs' associates over many years.

He teaches a technique which trains your mind to be capable of meditation .... or to be capable of Vipassana ... ie insight. Big difference.

Google Alan Wallace PhD.

When I got insrucion from him it was like day vs night.

I normally try for about 15 minutes in the morning, though quietening the mind for that time can be very problematic!

Ilchi Lee is also a master of Teak Kwon Do and spent 21 days alone meditating. Meditate is to reflect deeply on a subject. Meditate to think to intently and at length as for spiritual purposes. This is similar to what many of us do. How many times have you been sitting around bored, just staring into nothing. You are meditating. Ilchi Lee also traveled across the USA and stumbled across a city to start teaching his ideas. This wonderful and beautiful city was Sedona, Arizona. Finally, Ilchi Lee
