Thanks, Everyone

I just want to take a quick moment today to thank everyone who followed our European travels, and especially those who wrote in to comment. I did not, as you know, respond to comments while I was on the road, but I did read them, and was heart-warmed by words from old friends and new. Some I will be unable to respond to, except by a return comment, because I lack email addresses. So please, if you'd like to get in touch, use the email contact information that you'll find on the site rather than the comments column, which does not permit personal response. So good to hear from you all. Warm thanks...

Welcome home. Sounds like you had a wonderful trip, peter. Love the photos of you and the kids, and all the pics at the park. What a heatwave to come home to, though. Here too, up the coast, another heat advisory day. But hopefully all this high pressure will pass, and we'll get back to spring temps.

Peter and Ellie

It was so good to be a reunited family after all these years and we loved having you with us down here in what was the not-so-sunny south. Your pics bring back warm memories.

Peter, in your post dated Friday 10 April, you mentioned a tree whose name was unknown to you. This is, in fact, a tree of the MELIA family and is sometimes called a Bead Tree. They keep their fruit throughout the winter and spring until the new leaves arrive. We have them all around us here in VLM, and we hear that the "beads" are sometimes used in ornamental jewellery.

Now you can relax, as we are doing down here by the Med. in (comfortably) warm weather
