THE ITCH..

... that you can't scratch.

Poor Georgie (St. George, here) went under the knife a couple of days ago, to remove a growth from his jaw.  He now has to wear his halo--the dreaded Elizabethan collar--for ten days.  He is not happy about this.  He keeps trying to scratch, but to no avail.  He's also bumping into things, and catching the lip of the collar on the steps.  Very disconcerting.

I know how he feels.  I have these itches all the time that I want to scratch, but I can't reach them because they're hidden down there inside... the nagging worries, the anxieties, the things I have to do but haven't done.  It all amounts to the kind of stress I was writing about just the other day.

Ellie has been painting.  I hope she won't mind that I show you.

I like this one a lot!

Oh, I love the painting! Such beautiful, pelucid colours, and all the pleasurable satisfaction and resolution of the abstract with just enough of a hint of something not abstract.

This kind of aesthetic pleasure is very good for stress, I find (ach, wish I was not so familiar with what you describe)...

Hello, Jean! Ellie says Thank you! As for the stress... well, I guess we just try to breathe. And breathe again.
